CIN 12 SF 4
The Panda hit a 3-run homer, too. Sandoval pitched the 8th after Nick Vincent, Pat Venditte, Sam Dyson, and Travis Bergen came on in relief. Pomeranz was responsible for the first seven runs and Venditte for the next five. Giants starters were not ready for this trip to Cincinnati. Let's hope they are ready for Coors Field.

p.s. Venditte hit three guys in one inning and Dyson made it four in the same frame, tying a record. Sandoval hit a guy, too, but then induced a double-play grounder.
p.p.s. Game was delayed because of bees. That happened before to the Giants and Reds but at Riverfront Stadium in 1976.

Pablo stole a base, too. His "triple" (HR, SB, scoreless inning) hasn't happened since 1905.
He could also pitch with either hand but he has seen what happened when Venditte did it.
MLB says the 4 hit batters in one inning ties the record set in 1893 in a game between Pittsburgh and Boston (Braves).
Lousy game filled with all sorts of oddities. Even Mother Nature got into the act with those bees. I think that Bochy was pressured by the marketing department to let Panda pitch to promote those bobble heads. Can that be a coincidence?
Considering how many runs the Reds scored in the first innings, I think it is a miracle that we split the series. I will take it.
Mac Williamson is back with the ML club. I don't know who is getting bumped.
Utilityman Donovan Solano was called to the big club as well. Probably the end for Yangervis Solarte, another favorite from the All-Name Team.
Word is Williams Jerez (RH reliever) is also coming up, they'll have to make a spot for him, I'm guessing Pat Venditte (who has one option remaining) will get bumped.
Still no word on who Mac is replacing. Gerber, perhaps? He has options left.
ICYMI, both Chris Stratton and Alen Hanson were DFAd from their clubs. Hanson (Blue Jays) was let go on Friday, Strat (Angels) yesterday. I'm always curious what happens to the guys the Giants part ways with. Most players don't make it. So many bounce around on the fringes of the 40-man rosters. It's a hard game. It takes a lot--talent, ambition, determination, health, luck, etc.--to stick around in the big leagues.
So:
Solano in, Solarte out;
Jerez in, Venditte out;
Williamson in, Gerber out.
Solarte and Venditte DFAd, Gerber optioned to AAA.
Gerardo Parra elected free agency over assignment to AAA.
