+3

SF 2  LA 1

The Giants take the first game of the series to push their lead in the NL West to three full games. Logan Webb led the way with a terrific start, out-pitching Julio Urias with six innings of three-hit ball. The Giants scored on an error by Cody Bellinger in the 8th to get their first home win against LA this year. The Dodgers first baseman chucked one into the stands to send Buster Posey home with the go-ahead run against Blake Treinen. Darin Ruf threw out Luke Raley at home plate in the bottom of the 8th to preserve the lead. Buster got the big RBI hit to tie the game in the 6th and started the rally in the 8th with a walk (after being 0-and-2) that led to him scoring the winner. Jarlin Garcia handled the 7th, Trevor Rogers got help in the 8th, and Jake McGee took care of the 9th. Austin Slater had two hits and a run scored, he also threw out a runner in the 5th at second base to shut down the Dodgers rally. It was a big win by the home squad!

Anthony DeSclafani and Walker Buehler match up tomorrow night at 6:45 Pacific.

Go Giants!

By the way I got to see that epic game in LA where the Giants came from behind on the Ninja check swing from Darin Ruf. That's the best check swing I ever saw--he fooled two umpires with his lightning-quick wrists!

The Giants are now 7-7 against the Dodgers.

That was game 100 and the Giants are 63-37.

Zo0, if you go to Baseball-Reference you can get all your questions about the Giants answered in great detail. Start with the team page:

https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/SFG/2021.shtml

You'll see a grey bar running across the page with "Batting" and a down-arrow, use that down-arrow and select the link "Batting Splits":

https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/split.cgi?t=b&team=SFG&year=2021

You should find what you want (and a whole lot more!).

Once again, some tremendously fun highlights! No long balls but I love me the tag outs! I also had no idea how much joy that horrific throw gave me. I don’t like to think I feed off others misfortune but I sure make an exception for dogger superstar errors that cost them the game.

Odd that wade started vs a lefty on Tuesday and I do not see him in the starting lineup vs a righty on Wednesday. What's up with that?

Wade fouled two balls off his leg in the Tuesday game, so is getting a day or two off till the bruises are better.

Attended the game with my nephew and his girlfriend and it was a thoroughly entertaining game. Well played and a nail biter from beginning to end. Only one error by Bellinger absolutely launching a throw from first into the stratosphere and the crowd went absolutely nuts, me included. Chants of BEAT LA throughout the night and a beautiful night for a baseball game. Need to go to a few more games this year. Cheers to the Giants for taking 5 of 7 from the Dodgers in the last couple of weeks. Let's Go Giants!
